Welcome to Drumchapel United 97s website.This year will see big changes for the boys as they go from being two soccer seven sides to one side playing on full size pitches for the first time.A squad of 18 will compete in the newly formed Glasgow and District youth league which is a merger between two established set ups the s.y.c.a and the Scottish Amatuer, the coaches and players are looking forward to the start of the season playing 11 a side football with referees.There are currently 17 teams entered so far and the first game will be played on sunday the 24th august.
The new season also sees some changes in the coaching set up with Kevin Lavelle becoming the main coach with help from Stevie Gillespie and Stephen Cluness who will also be the team secretary and Anne Lightbody will deal with money matters as treasurer.There will also be two players leaving the team as Steven Mcnaught has dropped down a year to play with the 98s and Hussain Kaware has signed pro youth with Glasgow Rangers we wish both boys good luck and Im sure they will do well.
We are starting training again on the 24th july with the season starting roughly mid august all players will be contacted soon as they have to sign Y forms also training will be at the Donald Dewar centre on thursday evenings starting at 6 till 7.30.
