Welcome to Drumchapel United 97s website. This year will see the team in their sixth season and play competitive football offically for the first time and the players and coaches are up for the season after some very promising performances and results last year. Manager of the side will be Kevin Lavelle again with help from coaches Stevie Gillespie, Bernie McCauley and Stephen Cluness and we will be competing again in the well organised Glasgow and District Youth League against some very good sides. Last season saw the boys play 34 league games winning 32 and losing 2 and also winning competitive tournaments at Ayr in may and Kildrum in june and Daniel Brown left the club to join S.P.L side Aberdeen pro youth and Jaime Gallagher left pre season to sign for Queens Park. We also have been invited to play Celtic pro youth at the Lennoxtown training centre in early August.
This season will also see the boys compete in competitions like The Glasgow City Cup, The Western Region Cup and The Scottish Cup so we are all looking forward to some tough games. We are also hoping to compete in an international tournament in France in May 2010.
Thanks to Davie Mitchell who has sponsored the club again for the fourth season running and we are able to give the players strips, training kit and tracksuits due to his continued support financially and Anne Lightbody will look after money matters as treasurer making sure there is money for balls, training, pitches and trophies etc.
Training will start back again on Thursday 16th July at 6pm at the Donald Dewar Centre and anyone who would like to contact the Team please phone Kevin Lavelle 07513430708
How qualified/capable is your football team's registered first aider?
Qualified and fully capable
Has done some basic training but is hardly qualified. It's just to meet regulations really.
Don't have a registered first aider - we blag it!
Don't officially need a registered first aider
Don't even know who our first aider is!
