Drumchapel returned to the Premier League with a bang after a 3 year absence and exceded most peoples expectations by finishing a very impressive 4th in the league.
The season started off brilliantly, winning the first domestic competition in the U21's history. Victory against arch rivals Knightswood in the final was very sweet.
After this it was down to league business and with an incredible 8-1 victory away to St Peters the side also managed to fire 6 past Kilwinning twice, 6 past Neilston and KRR Harestanes the side went on to score 81 goals in their 26 matches.
On route to this tally, Sean Pierce became the clubs record holder for goals in a season, equaling the U21's League record with 54 goals in just 39 competitive matches.
Up until Christmas, Drumchapel were still in all competitions including the last 32 of the Lucozade Sport Performance League Cup. Unfortunately the side were unable to progress past the quarter final in any cup, losing at this stage to Knightswood (Scottish), Hillwood (West Cup), Blantyre (Golden Goals Cup and Trophy Centre Cups). With a 2-1 defeat at home to Tower Hearts the side crashed out of the Lucozade Cup also.
On the up-side, 5 Drumchapel players were selected to represent Alan Rough's real Radio West team against the East in a showpiece event at Airdrie's Excelsior stadium. Sean Pierce, Ian Gold, Douglas Shaw, Francis Smyth and Francis Maxwell enjoyed the outstanding experience, performing in front of 8,000 people in the stadium and a further 10,000 people tuned into the game online. The experience the players received will live in the memory forever.
As part of the Lucozade Success, a numberof players were able to travel to Anfield and Old Trafford to watch an English Premier League match VIP style. The first match between Liverpool and Blackburn was watched by Douglas Shaw, Darren Kerr, Ross Murphy, Ian Gold, Cameron Gallagher and Francis Maxwell. Shortly after, in February, Sean Pierce and Andrew McEwan were welcomed at Old Trafford to watch Manchester United vs Fulham. The final match in April allowed Scott Gibbons, Kearn Docherty, Francis Smyth, Liam McLean, Gerald Kelly and Liam Kerrigan the chance to see Liverpool vs Fulham.
Various other events took place during the season with a camping trip in September, Xmas night out, snooker championship, a casino and race night, curry karaoke and the end of the season before the big finale with the presentation night.
Susan Boyle and Jedward performed live thanks to Darren Kerr Ross Murphy and Franny Maxwell. A 'live' link to John MacDonald in the Dominican Republic entertained everyone as well as the player individual awards with their own music to dance to. After the lucozade videos had been shown, it was onto the main awards:
