Drumchapel produced their best performance of the season to blow way a shell shocked Amateur side. After a tight start Drumchapel took the lead in bizarre circumstances. A long Mitchell free kick was called for by the keeper. After the defender left the ball a wicked bounce sent the ball into the net. Mitchell became the first goalkeeper in Drumchapel's history to score during a match outwith a penalty. Very shortly after Gallagher doubled the lead. A long throw by Gold was flicked on by the defender and Gallagher was quick to react to guide the ball into the corner of the net. Mitchell was rarely tested throughout the match by after a through ball inside Kerrigan, the keeper had to remain alert to make a great save to keep his clean sheet. Shaw and McFarlane marshalled the strikers well and did not give many opportunities to get in behind. Gibbons and Gold worked tirelessly in the engine room to support the strikers and it took a crude tackle wide on the left to bring Gold down after a pacey run. McAuley should have scored in the opening half when slid in behind the defence. Instead of firing at goal, the striker tried to unselfishly lay the ball into Gallagher's path and the chance was lost.Marshall was seeing a lot of the play in the centre and linked up well with those around him. Particularly Docherty from full back who was always available with the overlap. Another long throw by Gold was flicked on by Boyle to Gallagher. The striker controlled well but couldn't keep his effort down as the chance was lost.

In the second half the home side dominated from start to finish. Within just 22 second of the restart, Drumchapel increased their lead. McAuley did well to win possession before delightfully clipping the ball inside the full-back to Marshall. The midfielder then slotted the ball perfectly onto the stride of Gibbons who guided the ball past the keeper via a deflection. The game was put to bed completely after Docherty brilliantly cut inside his marker before hammering the ball into the far corner to open up a 4 goal lead. Tiffney then replaced the hard-working Gibbons to make his debut for Drumchapel and added a bit more pace to the wide areas. Marshall found him almost immediately with a fine cross-field pass and the wide man whipped a cross in that was not met in the middle. A huge mention must go to Boyle in the Drumchapel midfield for his constant battling to win possession. Boyle failed to lose a single header in the entire match and his well timed interceptions started a lot of the Drumchapel attacks. Goal number 5 was added by McAuley after a neat through pass by Docherty. The striker controlled well after using his pace to get in behind and then cooly placed the ball into the far corner. Gold and Gallagher were replaced by Telfer and Duncan as the home side looked to freshen up the match. McAuley then added goal number 6 after a mix-up in defence and poor clearing. The striker reacted fast and stayed on his feet well to score his 7th league goal in 5 matches. Kerrigan was playing out of his skin defensively and timed his tackles perfectly throughout the match. McFarlane and Shaw remained composed at the back as Mitchell had very little to do in the second half. As time wore on Drumchapel kept possession well spreading the ball about the back 4 and then into midfield. Tiffney almost scored on his debut after a fine run down the right win was followed by a low drive that just missed the far post. Tiffney also linked up well with Telfer shortly after when his run inside ended with a pass to the back post. The wide man then spotted Marshall on the edge of the box but the defender cut out the pass. The scoring was finished with 3 minutes remaining. A Marshall corner was powerfully headered into the net by McFarlane, who is now enjoying a scoring role with 3 in his last 3 matches. It could have been a fairy tail ending for Boyle after bursting into the box. A low cross was met well by the midfielder but he screwed his shot wide of the post.

All in all a superb win for Drumchapel to keep them in contention at the top end of the league.
